Float

URS China Interactive Public Art Installation Design Competition 2020 LINGYUN LANE

Final Champion

07.2020

The concept ‘Float’, is a combination of the ‘Could’ sense in the name of the site ‘Ling Yun Lane’, ‘flocking’ of birds and ‘float’ in digital languages.

This interactive urban sculpture freezes a poetic moment of boid swarming and invites people to make it alive.

The unit is pre-programmed to light up under a sequence to represent the birds’ wave motion. By sensing touching and movement, it will be activated and interact with people around.

At a time when people are drifting apart under the fast-paced life, Float aims to bring the natural landscape back into the site and connect people with art, technology and community.
